As a member of Business and Trade Committee it was distressing to hear how subpostmasters were unwilling to come forward because they did not trust Post Office. I have urged Kevin Hollinrake MP to support those affected by this scandal to now come forward & claim the compensation they deserve.

I am continuing to campaign for doctor-led Urgent and Emergency care provision at the Hospital of St Cross. This morning I highlighted with Health Minister Helen Whately MP how important enhancing this service is for my constituents here in Rugby.

It was a great pleasure to mark the 25th anniversary of the Livia Award in Parl. The award was set up by my constituents, George and Giulietta Galli-Atkinson, in memory of their daughter Livia & honours the work of Metropolitan Police officers who investigate road traffic incidents.

The decision of the Planning Inspector to uphold @rugbybc's refusal of development at Brandon Stadium opens the door for speedway to return for future generations. I'm very pleased that the PM shares my hope that this stadium can, in future, return to its former glory.

Regeneration of Rugby's town centre is one of the most exciting projects underway in my constituency & will require the public and private sector to work together to bring about this change. Today I asked in Parliament how the Government can help unlock schemes such as Rugby's.

As a former small business owner, I want to see SMEs - the lifeblood of our economy - succeed. Making it easier for them to compete for Government contracts will help them to grow and succeed & I am pleased that Alex Burghart confirmed this remains a priority for Government.

At the Autumn Statement, we cut employee National Insurance by 2p. Today we've cut it again. This slashes the main rate of Employee NICs by a third. This helps to grow the economy by encouraging people to work, and puts more money in people’s pockets.

Due to pharmacy closures in Rugby my constituents are queuing for their prescriptions and despite demand, the Health & Wellbeing Board says there are sufficient pharmacies. I've raised this in Parliament & will continue to urge the NHS to review Rugby's need so new ones can open.

It is good news for jobs here in Rugby that GE Power have secured export orders for their high-value naval propulsion motors for export to Singapore - helping both to retain world leading engineering skills locally & build trade links with a fast growing economy.

Great to join Betting and Gaming Council at Rugby's Coral store ahead of the #GrandNational - although my pick wasn't a winner, Ourjayfoundation was with Ā£250 donated by the BGC for this great local charity. markpawsey.org.uk/news/rugby-mps…

Great this morning to join C&W Chamber of Commerce & local businesses here in Rugby to discuss the importance of skills for our local economy and the work of Business and Trade Committee on supporting SMEs and British exports.

Since 2010, Rugby has benefitted from more jobs and higher employment thanks to investment in skilled jobs at places like Ansty Park. With every Labour Government leaving office with unemployment higher than when they arrived, why would anybody want to risk this great progress?
