RBBP Secretary Mark Eaton with a short summary of our new report, ‘Rare Breeding Birds in the UK in 2022’’. First, the good news, then the bad news, and some bonus bird calls at the end!

Two of the three Surf Scoters in Druridge Bay this afternoon. Views better than this might suggest 😂 Northumberland & Tyneside Bird Club

Superb, as always. In fact, better than ever. Mercury Rev grasshopper at Boiler Shop tonight. Proper psychedelia!

Mark will be speaking to bucks bird club on Thursday evening (7th Nov) about the work of the panel - head to bucksbirdclub.co.uk for more details

Lesser Grey Shrike, Amble today. Nice to watch this while moaning with other birders about how crap the autumn’s been! 😂 Northumberland & Tyneside Bird Club

The RBBP love graphs, so here’s some from our new report, out in British Birds now. First, for Little Egret, one of nine species which reached a new record total in 2022, with a 1,712% increase over 25 years. (1/4)

Remarkably, as pointed out by Koen Stork, this is the same bird as present at Terschelling, Netherlands from 29 Oct to 2 Nov. Netherlands on left (Pieter Gordijn), Northumberland on right (Alan S.Jack)

Went to Staines Moor to look for Water Pipits but ended up walking into this funky looking Stonechat instead. Smart little thing! BirdGuides SurreyBirdClubNews London Bird Club RSPB The Wildlife Trusts
