In mice, rats, and monkeys, a lack of serotonin in the brain leads to impaired maternal affiliation behavior. Tianhua Wang now showed that early social enrichment has ameliorating effects but leaves the prominent reduction in pup ultrasonic calling untouched. Study links below.
