While I don't recommend doing this, I'll concede that this person was the fastest thing moving down the canyon last night. With snow packed roads, traffic jams can start forming as early as 3pm and last hours. Early departures might be worthwhile today.

I get asked a lot: "What do you think traffic will be like this afternoon?" Also... my last performance evaluation: "you need to work on being overly cynical".

There's never a time that parking lot or roadside camping/sleeping in a vehicle is legal in Alta. This is especially critical prior to UDOT avalanche work.

Deputy currently citing an individual who hid out in a vehicle overnight during closure. There's better ways to drop $1000 than paying court fines in Alta.

Only 3 days into the New Year, and I've blown my resolution not to be a pessimist. Saturday has all the ingredients for challenging road conditions, detours via the Alta Bypass Road, and serious delays. Please equip and plan ahead.

If the forecast plays out as expected, traction controls, heavy traffic congestion and delays, avalanche mitigation all possible through Saturday. IF... we get into Interlodge restrictions, we'll be enforcing violations 💯. Reminder, all car camping is prohibited in LCC.

This afternoon's intensified weather and commute times (pardon the pun) are on a collision course with each other. Early departures are recommended today.

UDOT will close SR-210 at 12:30 am on 3/22/25. Interlodge travel restrictions for the Town of Alta will go into effect at 1:00 am.
