At long last, and thanks to one person, Catherine Corless, the exhumation of hundreds of babies buried on the old mother and baby home grounds in Tuam, Co. Galway, has begun. Light shining on darkness. Photo by Andy Newman.

It is by now apparent that what the internet set into motion was not the digital Jeffersonian Democracy that was predicted, but a new Dark Ages. We are careening toward reversing mass literacy and I don’t see any off ramp in sight.

Adams' new slogan "Delivers. Never quits” - first reported here by Chris - is almost certainly meant as a dig against Andrew Cuomo for resigning.

i think we need to destroy the internet entirely in order to restore a sense of human time and the ability to feel empathy for others. we treat everything, from literature to life, as disposable because we live within a temporal window modeled on the blink of an eye.

every bomb that is dropped in a foreign country could have been a school, a hospital, or a road here. none of this is necessary to keep you safe, and it's all in service of a small group of people who already have more money than they could spend in a lifetime

the US dropped so much depleted uranium on Iraq that even today, babies are still being born with severe birth defects. but according to CNN, blowing up Iran's nuclear sites and consequently irradiating the region for generations will somehow “liberate” its people lmao

Assuming Brad Lander isn't elected mayor or doesn't work for the next administration, he could walk into NY10 next year. I don't even know if that primary would be close.

I had many years of working for NYC from the poorest communities up, we ended solitary, raised the age for kids, bought about parole reform,& closed many prisions & jails. Cuomo was always the opposing force everytime.! The poorest home in the Us is NY15 Please🙏🏾#DontRankCuomo

Joni Kletter Brad Lander Goldman has no Brooklyn roots. Lander would obliterate him in the non-Boro Park BK portions of NY-10, and hold firm enough in Manhattan. Not only would he win, I don't know if they'd be all that close.

Lots of ifs. But *if* Mamdani wins and *if* Lander's vote share goes more to him than Cuomo (it's been fairly evenly split when he gets disqualified in polls) he will likely be celebrated by a movement that passed him over for Mamdani.
