This week, we cut back a big laurel that was falling on a hedge, cleared the steps, and picked up lots of litter. The pond is looking great!

Have your heard of the Friends of Maryhill Road Graveyard? Today we want to highlight the work of this volunteer-led local group who have been working with the council to tidy up the graveyard of the Old Maryhill Parish Church.

We keep an eye on the ash trees in the park, but if you see anything that concerns you, please get in touch.

Mowing paths through the wildflower meadow…

This week, we made a start on tidying the community garden, cut the long grass at the Maryhill Road entrance, and swept the paths.

We’ve started on some renovations to the Community Garden, so you might notice some new fences going up - the Garden won’t be fenced off completely, there will still be pedestrian and wheelchair access, but it will separate the Garden and hopefully encourage responsible use 🙂

We’ve added some more fence to the community garden - we plan to grow climbing plants up this from the raised bed.

We’ve been doing more tidying of the community garden, putting the sign back up, putting out and filling some planters, and also installed a bike rack next to the tennis courts.

It’s the beginning of September, time to start on hedge trimming!

Clearing up lots of leaves…

Could we please remind people NOT to leave pumpkins in the park - they’re not good for wildlife and just make a mess.

Pumpkin advice from our Countryside Rangers🎃 Please don't leave old pumpkins out for wildlife as it can make them sick🤮 Don't dump your old pumpkins in our parks or woodlands. Instead donate them to local farms/community gardens or bury it in your garden for worms to enjoy.
