Needing a Re-Turn logo on cans and plastic bottles means HUNDREDS of products will disappear from shelves. This requirement can be made OPTIONAL by Re-Turn. This would maintain customer choice. ASK RETURN TO STOP DESTROYING CUSTOMER CHOICE. Please RT. thejournal.ie/re-turn-deposi…

Re-turn Leo Martin But it's accepting bottles without the logo at the moment once the barcode is registered. Am I right in saying the barcode is what's scanned? And on launch day the barcode checker was made available for products that were sold without the logo?

Leo Martin (@stpatsno7) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Re-turn That's untrue.....no need for a logo. It's being done already as long as barcode is registered...... you're going to put small businesses out of business. Or maybe that's what you want.....🤔

Re-turn Leo Martin The above tweet includes TWO ABSOLUTE LIES. It is NOT TRUE that - "Making the return logo optional isn't possible." It is NOT TRUE that - "RVMs only accept containers with the return logo for deposit refunds." #NOReTurnLOGO (01/46)

"Scott Baigent believes the Re-turn logo requirement on cans and bottles is a "rule for no purpose"...he said it would be cheaper for his business to crush and recycle all of the 460,000 cans and order new ones with the Re-turn logo." This is not recycling #depositreturnscheme

Scott makes a LOT OF SENSE. Re-turn Please STOP DAMAGING the Environment, small Irish businesses and consumers. Make the Re-Turn logo OPTIONAL permanently. (it is effectively optional now, Re-turn just won't be honest about this). #NOReTurnLOGO

It would be very easy to make the Re-Turn logo OPTIONAL. It would MASSIVELY help businesses such as mine and EightDegreesBrewing who are faced with over-stickering 460,000 cans at significant cost. It has been done in Malta. Irish people are intelligent deal with an OPTIONAL logo.

Keeping the logo Mandatory - * Has created confusion during the Transition Period, and has allowed Re-Turn to amass over €28 Million in unclaimed deposits; * Benefits Big Business - the companies that set up Re-Turn - by reducing their competition. Make the logo OPTIONAL.

Is the Re-turn Deposit Return Scheme destroying consumer choice? To-day on #MoviesAndBooze SeánMoncrieff on NewstalkFM from 3pm, we'll be discussing how the Mandatory Re-Turn Logo will seriously DAMAGE Consumer Choice, and why Re-Turn MUST make this logo OPTIONAL

Dean McGuinness (@beermessiah) 's Twitter Profile Photo

... the cheaper versions of these beers don't have the Re-Turn Logo. The importers of these beers will have to put a Re-Turn sticker on the cans. This can cause the retail price per can to increase by between 25 cents to 60 cents per can, or may make them drop off the shelves.

Dean McGuinness (@beermessiah) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Re-Turn's Mandatory Logo is reducing competition. Consumers suffer. Re-Turn - make it OPTIONAL immediately. Big brands (Carlsberg/Coors Light) are sold at higher prices in Ireland. Cheaper "paralleled" Carlsberg and Coors Light provides competition. Re-Turn is stopping this.
