It’s HOT! Temps will be hitting over 90 degrees! CT’s extreme Hot Weather Protocol has been activated. If you are in need of a place to get out of the heat you can call 2-1-1 to find a cooling center near you.

This suggests that Republicans may add yet another deeply harmful health care cut to the Senate bill – a cut that would take health coverage away from even more people, shift massive, unaffordable costs to states, & could even lead some states to end their #Medicaid expansion.

Republicans' plan to slash federal funding for #SNAP & impose an unfunded mandate on states is a fundamentally harmful policy that would increase hunger, worsen recessions, and potentially result in some states ending SNAP altogether. That's not something that can be "fixed."

Agree with Stephen Miller! NYC has a GDP of $2.6 trillion, making it by far the most successful city on the planet. Tokyo, London, Paris and Shanghai should take notes!

Rural hospitals would not just be affected by restrictions on Medicaid provider taxes in the One Big Beautiful Bill. They would also be affected by a projected 10.9 million people losing health coverage from Medicaid and ACA cuts more broadly.

🚨 The Senate parliamentarian just disqualified a bunch of provisions from the GOP bill — including Medicaid provider tax language, funding restrictions based on immigration status, spread pricing and one prohibition on gender-affirming care. List via a Democratic budget aide:

The Republican budget is apparently going to have a slush fund to bail out red state hospitals while allowing blue state hospitals to close because of the devastating Medicaid cuts. Let's call this what it is - a fundamental corruption. A blow to the heart of our 50 state union.

“Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans think the rules don’t apply to them, and this ruling is a huge win for Medicaid recipients, state economies, and Americans at large,” said Sen. Matt Lesser. Sen. Lesser Responds to Senate Ruling Protecting Medicaid senatedems.ct.gov/sen-lesser-res…

It’s remarkable how much of the debate about Medicaid cuts is now about hospitals and a rural hospital fund to placate critics and appear to soften the blow, not the millions of people who will lose coverage or find it unaffordable. Some will lose SNAP benefits at the same time.
