Today we remember Blair Peach - a teacher, trade unionist and anti-racist. Blair Peach was killed by a police officer while protesting against the fascist National Front. We must continue the fight against the far right and remember him. Let’s stand against division, for unity:

At the weekend I was very pleased to be attend the Scottish Conference of NASUWT. I was honoured to address the conference and to listen to important debates about the challenges facing teachers in Scotland.

Teachers serve their pupils and communities day-in, day-out. Unfortunately, teachers in England have once again been messed around by the government in relation to pay. Teachers need to see the report of the STRB as a matter of urgency and not via leaks to to the press before.

Harris have £21.5 million in the bank and spend £515,000 a year on the CEO’s salary. Yet they claim they must make redundancies. We are prepared to stand against this.

The rumoured 4% pay rise may be welcomed by teachers. It would only be a step towards restoring pay. It only helps if it is fully funded by the government. Our schools cannot be placed in an impossible position where implementing pay rises will lead to cuts to resources or to

Any teacher, parent or pupil knows that our schools are inadequately funded. The education secretary must make sure any pay offer is funded. We need the government to commit to protecting school budgets and making teaching a profession that attracts people rather than

The Harris academy and its CEO are letting children down. They are pointing fingers and passing blame rather than delivering for pupils. Yes we need a fully funded pay offer, but we also need to stop forking out public money on CEOs like Dan who are on £500,000.

It’s now more than a week since the press apparently leaked details of the likely pay report from the STRB. We don’t want leaks to the press. No more delay, teachers want to see the proposals on pay immediately. Teachers want the Westminster government to commit to fully funding

Absolutely devastating news from Oxfordshire; two firefighters and a member of the public have lost their lives in a fire; two other firefighters hospitalised. Our thoughts and solidarity with all involved, family, friends and colleagues. Thoughts also with those still tackling

£412m spent on consultants is a disgrace. The education sector is being ripped off by private companies, I am proud that the NASUWT is prepared to stand up against this. You can read our full report here 👇 nasuwt.org.uk/static/3faf0a2…

While we are told that there is no money to fund a pay rise for teachers, the education secretary turns a blind eye to the tens of millions of pounds being made at the expense of SEND pupils and SEND teachers. We are telling the government - they must put pupils before profit.

Exam boards, like Pearson, are making millions from our education system. There is absolutely no need for the education system to be outsourcing exam boards. We need to end the private profiteering and put pupils first. Read the full report here 👇 nasuwt.org.uk/static/3faf0a2…

Scrapping the two-child cap should always be about lifting children out of poverty. Nothing less. It certainly should not be about internal political games being played at the top of government. theguardian.com/society/2025/m…
