I visited City of Glasgow College Riverside Campus alongside my Glasgow colleagues John Grady MP and Patricia Ferguson to see the incredible facilities across science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The practical expertise which is taught on campus can transform young lives.

I am proud to have led a Westminster Hall debate on poverty in Glasgow North East—where life expectancy is lowest in the UK. I grew up in Easterhouse. I know what poverty looks like. In a country this wealthy, people are dying because they are poor. That should shame us all.

Today is #VEDay. A day to remember those who fought in the Second World War and protected our freedom. We must never forget their bravery and sacrifice in bringing peace to Europe. #VEDay80

This week I raised Martin’s case at PMQs—he and his children are stuck in temporary accommodation, without support or stability. While the UK Government is making the biggest investment in social housing in a generation, Scotland is falling behind. Families deserve better.

Last Friday I was in Robroyston at the new Taylor Wimpey development to hear about the challenges housebuilders are facing in Scotland👷‍♀️. It’s important that high quality homes are being built in Glasgow North East, and it was good to find out how I could support their plans. 🏡

This week I visited the First Bus 🚌 depot to talk about the changes needed to give Glasgow the bus network it deserves. Buses are a lifeline to my constituents, and they must be regular and affordable. As a bus user myself, I will always push for improved services in this area

It was a pleasure to visit Oakwood Primary School Oakwood Primary School in Easterhouse to watch a brilliant presentation from the P6s about their work with the Daffodil Club 🌼, a social group which supports elderly people. The class ran a Spring Fayre and raised nearly £5000!🌟

What a pleasure to attend the new St Pauls Youth Forum On Bikes shop at Hogganfield Loch with Paul Sweeney MSP. On Bikes is a social enterprise, with all profits going back to the community. They offer a bike library, sales, repairs - even adaptive and electric bikes! 🚲🚲

Last week I was invited by Animal Free Research UK AnimalFreeResearchUK to the Advanced Research Centre 🔬🧪 at the University of Glasgow. The passion and drive of the students to help discover new ways to conduct medical and scientific testing without the use of animals was incredible to see

I met with the new Principal of Glasgow Kelvin College Glasgow Kelvin College at their Easterhouse Campus.👩‍🏫 Attending college gave me a new direction, so seeing students being so positive about what education can do really shows the importance of learning skills in a welcoming environment.
