A sad day today to see one of the historic buildings (old railroad depot) w/ redevelopment potential in Yuma Downtown South be destroyed by fire. The great work of our Yuma Fire Department prevented it from spreading. I expect those responsible will be brought to justice soon!

Charges have been filed against 22yo Angel Alvarado for both the train depot & house structure fires. It is good to bring justice, yet it will never replace the historic building. Great work by Yuma Police and Yuma Fire Department. I'm grateful for their incredible investature work!

Yuma City Councilmember Gary Knight has passed away today at 11:37 am, in the company of his family while at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix. Given the devastating loss, the City continues to ask that privacy be upheld for the Knight family during this difficult time.

Gary will be immensely missed. We worked side-by-side throughout the last 10 years. His loss is significant for the Yuma community and for me personally. Gary, you will always be my go-to Deputy Mayor!
