Back in 1962 President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. We celebrate National Police Week by showing our respect, honor and remember those who have served and continue to do so.

Earlier this morning I had the opportunity to speak at No Veteran Left Behind, hosted by AMVETS ONE. The Tour Across America helps raise awareness and highlight local resources to reduce stigma and prevent Veteran suicide.

This week I proclaimed the month of May as Older Americans Month. I had the chance to visit the Glendale Adult Center, where our amazing city employees are committed to ensuring that all residents have the resources and support needed to stay involved.

We officially cut the ribbon at Heroes Park! New amenities were added to 30 acres, of the 81-acre park. Heroes is now home to the city's first synthetic turf field and has two natural grass fields; which are lighted. It's also home to 8 pickleball courts.

At last night's City Council meeting, I officially proclaimed May as Military Appreciation Month. My sincere thanks to all of our military members, both active and retired. Brigadier General David Berkland from 56th Fighter Wing was on-hand to accept last night's proclamation.

On Peace Officers Memorial Day, we honor our brave officers who serve on the front lines to protect our families, safeguard our community, and shoulder a burden of responsibility that most Americans cannot fathom. Thank you for your sacrifice and for keeping us safe.

Last night I had the honor of attending the Glendale Fire Dept.'s 2025 Recognition and Awards ceremony. Congrats to all who were honored and thank you for keeping our city safe!

Today we honor and recognize the men and women who serve in the United States Armed Forces. Last week I had the privilege of meeting over 425 young men and women who have made the decision to serve in our United States Military.

This week we celebrate all of the great men and women who work across our city in the various public works departments. This week we recognize those individuals for their tireless effort to keep our city running. We have treats & fun prepared for each day this week to celebrate!

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the reason we enjoy the freedoms we have today.

Earlier this morning, the VFW Post Auxiliary 1433 and I honored the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. May they rest in peace as we remember them this Memorial Day.

At yesterday evening’s City Council meeting, I proclaimed May 27 as MYAC Day in Glendale. We recognized the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Commission and former Glendale Mayor George Renner, for his contribution to the founding of MYAC in Glendale.

Earlier today I met with members from the Glendale Fire Dept. department to deliver a Proclamation, proclaiming the week of June 1 through June 7 as National CPR and AED Awareness week. GFD provides free hands only CPR and AED classes to the public upon request.
