We suffer more in imagination than we do in reality. The thought of doing anything difficult, will always be worse than actually taking action. If you want to achieve high performance, you need to do things outside of your comfort zone, and become comfortable with that.

Being fully prepared for game day does not entitle you to a great performance. What it guarantees though, is peace of mind in knowing that you done everything you possibly could to succeed. Control what YOU can control, and you can be content with whatever the result.
