The McHenry County Department of Health Department is offering a free residential document shredding event from 9 a.m. to noon July 12 at the County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock. Each vehicle may bring up to four banker boxes of personal documents for fast, drive-thru service.

Last night's storms downed some power lines, and more storms are forecast for this afternoon and evening. Remember that storm debris can hide downed power lines and other hazards - never drive over downed power lines, and always treat downed lines as if they are live.

Wilmot Road between Route 12 and Main Street in Spring Grove will be closed to traffic next week for railroad crossing maintenance. A detour will be posted using Route 12, Blivin Street and Main Street. Work is expected to be finished by Friday, weather permitting.
