Murray recently harvested honey from his hives, the bees are happy with plenty of blossom nearby. This apiary is located just behind the chardonnay rows on Hazel's Vineyard that produce the fruit for our unique Apiary Chardonnay.

Once the seeds in our cover crop have set and matured, we mow the grasses down. This provides a layer of mulch to help cool the soil, retain soil moisture and eventually build soil carbon.

It's hard to lock down Simon this time of year with so much going on in the vineyard. He reckons the vineyard is looking great right now, the vines are looking vibrant and healthy, cover crop mowed, wires lifted ready for the summer and bunch development. They've been busy!

After spending the winter colder month resting in barrels in our cellars, it is time for us to assess the quality of all our reds from the 2022 vintage.

On a side note, we had a few chooks go clucky, we now have some newly hatched chicks to join our pest control team. How good! #McHenryHohnen #biodynamicwine โ #MargaretRiverWine #MargaretRiver #westisbest #seewa #biodynamic #organic #farming #winemaking #winemaker #viticulture

Whilst some of our red Rhone Varietals are beginning to be assessed and moved from our rammed earth cellar up to the winery, their is no rush at all for the Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

Long summer evenings in our wonderful region. Only made better when pouring sharing a bottle of wine grown, made and bottled in the same place. #purityofplace

The 2021 Laterite Hills Chardonnay. Farmed with the same philosophy and made in the same way as our single vineyard chardonnays.

As we move deeper into another Vintage we thought to cast our thoughts back to our roots. Having a chat to Head Winemaker Japo about why our wines have always maintained a purity of place.

Once again we waited until the strike of midnight to begin this years harvest. Chardonnay yield has been good and quality excellent thus far. Looking forward to getting into some of our alternative varieties , starting with Marsanne Rousanne tomorrow. Bright and early.

Not as much natural blossom around this year to occupy the birds appetites. The extra netting required to protect the grapes has added to the work load but this is the time of year we live for. Vineyard team going hard, winery humming with activity. Work hard, play hard.
