And here it is! The film we premiered tonight. We have been proud to tell this story of Scotland's journey. We hope we've made it easy for people to share widely. The world needs hopeful stories. #ScotlandsACEsJourney youtube.com/watch?v=wocEqQ…

What a way to begin the day in Belfast: speaking about early years policy at Northern Ireland’s Stormont Parliament Building. Thanks to all involved in hosting - and all who attended - this great conversation. Off to Ulster University for tonight’s event for NI Science Festival.

Excellent event today Dan Wuori why we should Invest Early in our Children. Reminds us how we conceptualise early care and education in Northern Ireland has a direct bearing on its impact .....Are we optimising human development? #first1001days Kevin Duggan

I was thinkng recently about attachment styles in the workplace, so I thought I'd post a THREAD about recent research publications on this topic. Many leaders won't realise they are dealing, in the office, with fears they held as an infant. So are their employees & staff members.

The revised practice guidance in Scotland Realising the Ambition for #earlyyears: "For children, now is more important than the future we plan for them. Rigid ideas of ‘school readiness’ or what children ‘should’ be doing place too much emphasis on concerns about the future"

I used my first column in the The Irish News to discuss the governments failure on child poverty. The Assembly's Public Accounts Committee report said the child poverty strategy "lacked targets to reduce child poverty and there was insufficient focus on specific actions which could have made the difference."

It can be tricky to assess parent-infant relationships without resorting to checklists, or risking them feeling bad about themselves or their baby We're working on developing a strengths-based, infant voice centred self assessment - here's progress so far, comments very welcome!

"If our culture is going to use the language of childhood trauma to talk about ACEs, then we need to face up to the fact that trauma is a common part of ordinary childhoods." An excerpt from my recent chapter in "Intersubjective Minds", just published by Oxford Academic.

This is why we should not have children engage in formal, sit down academic learning (ie, send them to "school") before the age of 6. This idea turns out to be deeply culturally challenging for Britain. Upstart Scotland
