This is far from the only thing John MacArthur has got very, very wrong. One day, all those blind guides who condemn the idea of one man’s sayings being infallible will realise their hypocrisy. Until then, then. Mary is the mother of God.

The Assisted Dying Bill risks creating a two-tier system where those who can't pay for care are forced to opt for an early death. Instead, palliative care should be government-funded so it's accessible to all & doesn't leave people choosing between suffering or assisted suicide.

Ahead of today’s assisted dying Bill debate, I thought I’d do a thread of FALSE FACTS. You know… campaigning soundbites, PR spin. That come up again and again. And are persuasive… but wrong.

Hard to say this because it is a heartfelt piece but it shows exactly why the #AssistedDyingBill should be rejected. How the boundaries of AD are crossed & how society’s commitment to suicide prevention is ignored. theguardian.com/australia-news…

I’m very pleased to see this, having been one of the representatives of the debt advice sector who negotiated the basis on which the Enforcement Conduct Board was established. All parties agreed that the ECB’s powers would need to be supported by statute - this is good news.

I have two new research briefings, which you can find on my website. Will employment support make a substantial difference to sick and disabled people who are treated as unfit for work by the WCA? Who are the people assessed as unfit for work by the WCA? Please share with your MP

Indeed. Having made the mistake of cancelling it with no plan, they have set out on a more meaningful task of actually addressing poverty instead of trying (and failing) to reverse their polling losses.

Don’t be old, young, sick, disabled, or poor. They’ll have you, they will. In the name of progress, they’ll make your life a misery, they’ll make it your fault, and then they’ll kill you. Sometimes they’ll kill you first and then do the other things. But they will kill you.

Giving these giveaways a go - since I’m not allowed to buy any more books, it’s my only hope of feeding my addiction.

This is good. Kudos to Debbie Abrahams - her treasury counterpart might be happy that some concessions were extracted, but I’m pleased to see that Debbie is clearer eyed.

Governments whose focus is on helping sick and disabled people into work don't need to cut social security. Social security will fall naturally if people capable of work are supported to work. And those who can't work will still be protected, rather than harmed by cuts.
