Last month we invited sportscotland to our Kilmarnock Campus to see our Mental Health United football club in action. Mental Health United is a free men and boys-only football themed social group that runs on a Thursday night at our Kilmarnock Campus gymnasium from 5pm-7pm.

The group is a safe space for men of all ages to get together for a game, a cuppa and a half time team chat. Football scenarios are used as a way of talking about mental health and breaking down barriers. Men's Health United is open to students, staff and our local community.

We are grateful to Andrew, one of our Health and Social Care students, for sharing his story. Andrew came along to Mental Health United shortly after starting his course last year and is set to be fast-tracked straight through to his HNC as a result of his work ethic.

This Volunteers' Week we want to talk about The Ayrshire College Volunteer Awards, which celebrate students who work with The Student Association at Ayrshire College. The awards are tiered – Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum – to reflect the time and level of involvement with The Student Association's work

We have been inspired by small acts of kindness that so many people do to benefit our local communities, during Volunteers Week 2025. The Level 4 Plumbing pre-apprentices at Ayr Campus did a litter pick along the River Ayr as a team building exercise last month. Thanks boys! 👏👏

Monica and Donny receiving their Saltire Volunteering Award today before they finish their HNC Coaching qualification. Donny accumlating an unbelievable 369 volunteering hours this academic year, and Monica amassing a valuable 124 hours during her time at Ayrshire College.
