A normal megakaryocyte (M) has a multilobated nucleus with connected and overlapping nuclear lobes. Osteoclasts (O) somewhat resemble megakaryocytes but have separate nuclei that resemble "pennies on a plate". Osteoclasts are usually adjacent to bone (B = small bone fragment).
