Q1: Virtual residency interviews have made the interview season vastly different this year for applicants and programs. Are there any benefits to a virtual interviewing? What are some drawbacks to virtual interviewing? 🌟Don't forget A1 in your answer! #MedStudentChat

MedStudentChat A1: pros-reduced cost of travel, more interview invites sent, opportunity to see creativity and effort of how programs coordinate interview social/day. Cons-more apps for programs, challenges of “feeling the vibes” of the resident/faculty/staff, zoom fatigue #MedStudentTwitter

MedStudentChat A2: my fav thing is seeing residents and faculty interacting with each other on zoom. Even the small things, resident/faculty: “Dr. X, did you get your Starbucks this AM?” *laugh/joke/convo/*. It shows me that the ppl actually know and enjoy each other. #medstudentchat

Coronavirus has highlighted the vulnerability of residents & the need for applicants to get a good feel for resident safety & wellness. What are some ways you can tactfully ask how supportive programs are of their residents? What questions may you want to avoid? #MedStudentChat

MedStudentChat ❤️ Zoom socials & videos of hospitals. Bonus points for candid live clinic tours. On one we got an inside scoop about the city from an attending that happened to be there 😂 Definitely get a sense for the level of chillness/ or lack thereof which to me is key! #MedStudentChat

MedStudentChat A4: You get asked if you have any more questions throughout your interview day! If you truly have no more, it's completely ok to say no! Many times, this allows you to continue a conversation that may have gotten cut short/ chat about something else on your CV! #medstudentchat
