1/3 My learning to date from treating COVID patients: 1.Secretion load fluctuates dramatically in intubated patients. 2.Patients can deteriorate quickly 3.Pre-oxygenation before airway clearance is wise 4.PPE donning and doffing becomes second nature quickly.

So very important to remember that in addition to the sad losses there will be many recoveries - therapy services across the #nhs will be there for our patients, supporting their post-covid recovery! #rehablegend #rehabilitation SFT Therapy Acute Medical/Surgical Therapy

Today, on our RCU, Physio F Talbot and I were serenaded with a rendition of "Moon River" by a 94 y/o recovering from #Covid19 - reckon that's a great breathing exercise! Aiming for discharge this week! Hold onto positive stories, they help us balance everything else 🌟 #RehabLegend

Rehab during and post ICU for all Patients is a focus that it unchanged, regardless of Covid, but it has provided great opportunities for it’s importance to be highlighted! I’m proud of what our inpatient teams have provided for these patients 🙌 Acute Medical/Surgical Therapy Salisbury Critical Care

The most consistent advice I’ve given as a NHS therapy manager is you cannot provide perfect therapeutic interventions/rehabilitation during a pandemic You have to give patients & yourself realistic expectations, have time boundaries & know your physical & emotional limitations

Our hospital is under intense pressure. Please avoid attending A&E unless you have a life-threatening illness or severe injury. Alternatives to A&E for minor illness or injury are #SalisburyWalkinCentre, #NHS111, or your local pharmacy. Read more here: bit.ly/3s9sDhF
