So, here we go again, season No.40 covering Connacht. Gosh, where have the years gone??? And who knows what this season will hold? It all starts with a preseason friendly against URC champions Munster here at the Sportsground.

High in the night sky in Lyon for the All Blacks v Italy. Huge New Zealand crowd here, more than I’ve seen at their opening games. Perhaps they sense something but they are out if they lose tonight. They won’t.

Sunday morning in Marseille and the South Africans are out in force. Some were on the beer at the Lough Ness at 11am (match starts 9pm, do the sums!). Rugby village at the port has been thronged and while there is often a sense of menace in this city there’s a carnival atmosphere.

World champions South Africa being made to work hard in Marseille by a gutsy Tonga side. But the unthinkable won’t happen ...

Had hoped to be elsewhere on World Cup final day but c’est la vie! Sportsground looking good for Connacht v Glasgow Warriors.

Sun is shining at Pearse Stadium for the Galway SHC final as Turloughmore, the only club to win six-in-row, try to prevent St Thomas’ from emulating that record.

Pictured are the St Thomas’ players to win the 2033 Galway SHC title while at the back are the team who completed the six-in-a-row in 2023!

Great to see this man on tv today cheering on Connacht in Durban as they won in South Africa for the 5th time in 10 games. Fans might wonder about the jersey? Well, it’s one of his training tops when he was Connacht’s top try scorer for many years. You’re looking good Wayne Munn!

Weather plays its part as €35m Moycullen bypass is opened by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar. Great day for village of Moycullen but for commuters to the city all it will do is shift them quicker to the gridlock which chokes the city daily and the misery looks set to continue for years.
