Well, PLENTY of public school teachers put their own kids in private school. I know some personally! Plus some union leaders who fought re-opening (Oakland, IIRC) + Gavin Newsom.

Their emotions do NOTHING to alleviate the harm done to kids by the closures of >1 year. Likely Zweig’s book doesn’t talk about their “worry” because their “worry” DOES NOT REDUCE HARM.

Zweig’s book isn’t focused exclusively on New York, so it’s unreasonable to criticize it for considering the rest of our nation. Omicron did NOT wreak havoc & necessitate closures in Maryland. (3rd worst state for reopening, BTW, so highly relevant.)
