Attending conferences as a deaf person comes with a whole slew of accessibility & inclusion issues. While most people feel excitement, I feel anxiety. As I prepare to present at the AAAS Annual Meeting with several colleagues on STEM sign language, here are my thoughts over the years:

Live parasites at the BCM_TropMed vaccine center! Ascaris suum (large roundworm of pigs) is a parasitic nematode that can infect and cause ascariasis in pigs. Human can also get infected, by ingesting food contaminated with infective eggs from this parasite. @JillWeather
This was a major full circle moment, as I was exposed to this amazing field as an undergraduate by Dr Bruce Christensen at UW–Madison 🪱❤️
