I’m calling for #AcademicTwitter to boycott NYU and Columbia University for their treatment of Pro Palestine students. Columbia University sent a disciplinary notice to a student who they knew was in the ICU. All of these punishments are being done to stop encampments. Enough is enough.

Finally good news, Biden just approved an $8 billion package to fight the wildfires in California... Oh wait that was for Israel to fight hospitals, sorry

Palestine and Los Angeles are burning for the same reason: the prioritization of advancing capitalist and colonial interests over the lives and well-being of millions. We’re witnessing the brutal effects of capitalism and settler colonialism real time. This can’t continue.

Was not expecting it from Politico, but this is the best headline I’ve seen for the new Lancet study. If you’re going to report on the massive death toll in Gaza, you should mention who is killing Palestinians.

NYU just suspended, for one year, students who participated in a peaceful sit-in demo and Columbia just fired a tenured a law school professor. In both instances because they spoke on behalf of Palestinian rights. This is getting very ugly.

1/17 To my academic colleagues who have not found the courage to speak out against genocide, but instead have decided to focus on their research. Maybe you think its not your place. Maybe you worry about the risks to your career. This 🧵 is for you, i do hope you will read it.

Nobody--and I mean nobody--should break the academic boycott of Columbia University, which should firm and fast--and expand. You do this for yourself, as much as for our colleagues & students at Columbia. Find the dignity, and the spine.

If the late great Edward Said had been alive today, Columbia would have fired him without compunction. That should give all decent people (not you, troll) genuine pause, particularly those academics who draw on his work & remain silent about the cause.

Even as I do understand all too well, I can’t fully wrap my head around citing the exact part of your mission that makes opposing scholasticide precisely within the scope of your mission in your statement saying it’s outside the scope of your mission.

Settler colonies create supremacist societies which leads to a normalization of genocidal violence. This is not natural but instead naturalized by these societies & projected onto oppressed people as justification for violence & subjugation 1/
