Once you start looking, all around you'll see examples of rewilding not by design ... but neglect. This piece of disused land in Sligo town, for eg, is just heaving with wildflowers, grasses, self-seeded trees, butterflies and birdsong. Why can't we actually *choose* this?

In case this gives the wrong impression that rewilding is happening anyway, so we can all relax, it's worth remembering that without intervention almost all such sites eventually get cleared. (Ahem, 'developed'.)
