I’m thrilled to share this story from Joshua Mendell and Jan Erzberger labs, led by postdoc extraordinaire Xiaoqiang Zhu! We showed that in addition to their canonical decoding function, tRNAs play a key role in regulating mRNA stability during translation. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
HHMI Investigator Joshua Mendell (Joshua Mendell) at UT Southwestern Medical Center helped discover that tRNAs play a role in stabilizing or degrading some mRNAs during translation. Their findings could one day help tailor vaccines and disease therapies. Learn more: hhmi.news/4hZMqJa 👈
Very exciting story from Joanna Kovalski Davide Ruggero and colleagues! Great example of the importance of translational control in cancer and a very cool mechanism.
It's difficult to focus on science with everything going on, but I still enjoy hearing about other people's work here, so I want to continue sharing ours. I am happy to re-post this thread about our pre-print that is now published in Molecular Cell. authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S10…
Principal Investigator Joshua Mendell (Joshua Mendell) and researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center highlight the functional versatility of snoRNA sequences and expand the known mechanisms through which noncoding RNAs orchestrate ribosome biogenesis. cell.com/molecular-cell…
Amazing work from Raghu Chivukula, MD PhD 🫁🧬🧠 on how a repeat expansion causes disease by impairing tRNA splicing👇. This is very important work that illuminates how polyGlycine repeats cause neurodegeneration, similar to mutations in tRNA splicing factors. Congrats Raghu and team!
