The 20th annual Merced County Peace Officer's Memorial Ceremony was held this morning in front of the Peace Officer's Memorial Wall outside of the County Administration Building. The ceremony honors those officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

All offices at the Merced County Administration Building will be closed Monday, May 26, 2025, in honor of Memorial Day. Regular business hours will resume for all offices on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

From June 24 to June 30, Castle Airport will be the site of FAA-required noise testing for a Boeing 777 aircraft as part of its official certification process. These tests are designed to monitor sound levels in the surrounding area, ensuring compliance with federal standards.

Rumors on social media are falsely stating that the runway at Castle Airport either has been or is planned to be shortened. This is untrue—since the Air Force Base closed in 1995, the runway has maintained all of its 11,802 feet in length and it will stay the same in the future.
