EXCITING NEWS!!! Purdue Northwest eSports Coach Justin Bragg coming will join our call-out meeting to explain how eSports can connect students to scholarships/opportunities.

MHS Student Government will sell “Crush” soda cans during all lunches. Buy for your crush! $1- all proceeds go to Riley Hospital for Children. Sales will be for ONE WEEK ONLY. Cans will be distributed to 5th hour teachers on Valentine's Day!

Merrillville Community Schools will be virtual learning Wednesday and Thursday, February 2nd and 3rd.  Students should look at their Google Classroom for meeting links from their teachers.

As part of Black History Month, MHS Student Government is sponsoring “21 Days of Black Authors“.

This morning around 10:30, the high school experienced a false fire alarm, stemming from the high school HVAC system.  The fire department has given the all-clear for students to re-enter the building, as our maintenance department is addressing the situation.

MHS AFJROTC Drill Team won two 1st & two 2nd Place trophies in Anchor Bay, Michigan. Cadets placed 2nd overall at the drill competition.  Special congrats to Cadet Dean and Cadet Mendez who both won individual awards.

MHS CTE students from Mr. Taylor’s Building Trades courses toured the Construction & Skilled Trades Day at Lake Co Fairgrounds. Learning firsthand about jobs and careers available to them right here at home.

Merrillville Choir and M&M Productions present the holiday classic SCROOGE the Musical on Saturday, November 26 at 7:30PM in Reinhart Auditorium.  We also have 3 performances next weekend:  Friday, Dec 2 and Saturday, Dec 3 at 7:30PM and Sunday, Dec 4 at 3pm.

MHS Trades students, CTE Director Bob Phelps & Construction Trades instructor, Terrell Taylor, met with Congressman Frank Mrvan at the IKORCC Open House in November. Students had a chance to learn about the opportunities the IKORCC offers in the skilled trades after high school.

MHS Guidance & CTE sponsored a Trades Fair at MHS. Welding, carpentry, court reporting, cosmetology, real estate, brick laying, sheet metal working, truck driving, phlebotomy, design programs, and the Merrillville fire department. Great opportunities for our students!
