The second Yellow-browed Wblr for one members garden ringed this week as part of his goldcrest study, 300+ so for this Autumn. (5000+ ringed over the years). He has also ringed 2 Pallas's Warbler and 54 Firecrest there. Amazing place. Keep up the good work.

After last week's Yellow-browed, the "magic garden" has done it again with the first Firecrest of the Autumn. Better still this is the first foreign control Firecrest for MRG. It was wearing a ring from The Netherlands.

Just heard that this Little Egret has become the first from our project to make it to the Isle of Man. Please check Little Egrets for colour rings and report them so we can learn more about their post juvenile dispersal. #BTO

I retrapped this juv male Sparrowhawk this am. Initially I thought the lesions could be trichomonas infection, but further research seems to suggest Eucoleus dispar. Anyone seen this before? The bird flew off strongly and appeared otherwise healthy.

In July, decisions were made by Natural England North West which has resulted in an unprecedented outcome in modern times. 0.5ha of the Dee Estuary SAC is now set to be destroyed on Wirral. Wild Justice have been helping to reverse this nationally significant precedent. PLEASE RETWEET!

MRG have reached a nice milestone at one of our sites, #woolstoneyes, with a Robin ringed on the 17th January being the 190,000th bird ringed there since 1980. The 100,000 was a Moorhen. I wonder what the 200,000th will be?

Thanks to Joe Lennon for reporting Cormorant 233 at Portmore Lough, N. Ireland, on 24th Jan. This is just the 2nd bird from our project to be found in Ireland. Last week our Little Egret that went to the Isle of Man was found in N. Wales.

A small catch of Knot and Dunlin last night at #Hoylake, this flagged knot was ringed on Alt estuary in 2018. It has been reported 17 times since, including Skogarnes, #Iceland. Great to see what can be gathered from using leg flags to help bird conservation.

Great to help in a bird ringing demo Ness Botanic Gardens today with Merseyside Ringing Group & Rose Froud. Lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves & even better to catch many healthy Greenfinches. A species we’ve not ringed at these demos before
