Methane-Predict is a 4 yr Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Ministry for Primary Industries funded project lead by Teagasc and AgResearch aiming to develop high throughput predictors for large capacity screening of methane emitting ruminant livestock at an individual and system level #NZIREAgriPartnership

Interested in working on a large multinational ruminant microbiome project with us in Teagasc ? If so, follow this 🧵for 2 exciting posts working on the HoloRuminant H2020 and Methane-Predict projects. all retweets much appreciated! David Kenny Sinéad Waters Fiona McGovern (1/5)

3yr Postdoc position working on the Methane-Predict project. Excellent opportunity to work on this Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Ministry for Primary Industries funded collaborative project with AgResearch ICBF focused on the rumen microbiome and CH4 emissions. Animal, lab and bioinformatics role (3/5)

Sampling preparations underway for the latest Methane-Predict rumen sampling run. 80 sucklers, having their methane emissions estimated, will be sampled to try identify rumen 🦠s associated with high and low methane output at grass! Teagasc Colin Byrne

Another 80 suckler cows rumen sampled and added to the Methane-Predict project. Samples of rumen 🦠s will be used as part of studies aiming to identify ⬆️&⬇️ CH4 emitting animals for breeding. Teagasc AgResearch Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine Ministry for Primary Industries

All steam ahead in TeagascSheep in preparation for rumen sampling 500 lambs to study the relationship of the rumen 🦠s and methane output!! Eoin Dunne Fiona McGovern

Interested in joining the Methane-Predict team and investigating the role of the rumen microbiome as a proxy for methane emissions? If so, the below Teagasc job advert, funded through the Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Ministry for Primary Industries collab maybe for you: topjobs-teagasc.thehirelab.com/LiveJobs/JobAp… AgResearch

🚨🚨The closing date for the below role has been extended until this coming Friday (12th Jan). If you are interested in working on the rumen microbiome and methane emissions, we want to hear from you!🚨🚨 Teagasc AgResearch Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine Ministry for Primary Industries

Exciting PhD on the Methane-Predict project in TeagascSheep aiming to estimate methane output from sheep as well as investigating the opportunity of genomics (genetic and rumen microbiome) to lower methane output!
