Found ways to beat ourselves again today, dropping one to Stillwater, 4-1. Three Knights pitchers combined to allow just 4 hits, but 4 errors and a lack of timely hits doom us. Knights offense left men on base in every single inning and stranded RISP in 5 different innings.

Knights pitchers delivered another strong performance last night, allowing 2 ER or fewer for the 6th time in the last 8 games (and 8th in the last 12). Sawyer Anderson 4 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K Gavin Dahl 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K Baxter Heino 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K

Offensively, the Knights scattered 9 hits and had scoring opportunities in almost every inning, but couldn't come up with the big hit with RISP. Maxwell Israel (2-for-3, BB) and Jackson Israel (2-for-4) led the offense. Davon Castro (1-for-3) with his first Knights hit.

If you’re in the portal, by all means pay someone to help you add HB and IVB and a 3rd, 4th pitch to the arsenal, etc.. The pitch metric you’re probably missing is CIC. What’s CIC? It’s Cleats In Clay. Go out and compete against batters in the box and show someone you can win.

The funk continues. Knights jump out to an early 4-0 lead, give it right back before getting dinked and dunked to death in a 9-4 loss. Split the season series with the Hogs but lose the tiebreaker thanks to 2 unearned runs in the final inning. One of those stretches.

Knights pick up a pair of wins this afternoon, 4-3 and 5-3. Both were tight, fast-paced ballgames. Good pitching was the story today, as Tomás Palomarez and Sawyer Anderson each went the distance for CG Wins.

Knights jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in Game 1. Jackson Israel (2-for-2, BB, 2 SB) and Ryan Jeffrey (1-for-3, 2 RBI) with 1st inning hits. Minneapolis North Stars of Bloomington plated a run in the 3rd to make it 2-1. Luke Simpson tripled home Israel, scored on a FC for a 4-1 lead after 5.

Things got interesting in the 7th, as a couple of sharply hit balls resulted in some traffic on the bases. An infield single and wild pitch made it a 1-run game and put the tying run in scoring position before a strikeout ended it, securing the 4-3 Win.

Knights starting pitcher Tomás Palomarez was nothing short of terrific. CG, 7 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 12 K Tomás carried a 2-hitter into the final frame. 101 total pitches, 71 strikes. And of those, 24 were swinging strikes for an incredible 46% whiff rate.

Knights dinked and dunked our way to victory in Game 2. Crystal Cowboys 🇺🇸 came out hot with 3 hits in the 1st inning to take a 1-0 lead. Knights responded with 4 runs in the bottom half courtesy of some well-placed singles, aggressive baserunning, an error, and a balk.

Cowboys got 1 run back in the 2nd and another in the 5th to make it a 4-3 game. Knights had multiple RISP in the 2nd, 4th, and 5th innings but couldn't come up with the big hit. Wyatt Gavin with a clutch 2-out RBI single in the 6th gave the Knights a much-needed insurance run.

Game 2 starter Sawyer Anderson turned in his third consecutive quality start. CG, 7 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K Sawyer pounded the zone. 95 pitches, 65 strikes. Also chipped in a single with the bat.

Things we learned today... Tomás Palomarez plays a mean first base. Catchers can steal bases. Pitchers are athletes too. Scott Shield comes out of retirement to help out, logs himself an OF assist. Ten pizzas and 100 wings is exactly the right amount of food to feed 2 teams.
