Together with MiCRop - Microbial Imprinting for Crop Resilience consortium to celebrate the end of the 1st 5 years and the start of 5 more exciting years with Phase 2.

Scientists from Wageningen U&R developed a new and efficient method for profiling nutritional and toxic elements in plant tissues. This new method, based on X-ray fluoresence (XRF), is cost-effective, rapid, and suitable for detecting light elements (like sodium) biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

MiCRop has 6 researchers in #HighlyCited2024 according to Clarivate Analytics! Congratulations to Harro Bouwmeester (UvA Amsterdam), Corné Pieterse and Bas E. Dutilh (Utrecht University), Marnix Medema (Wageningen U&R), Jos Raaijmakers and Paolina Garbeva (NL Inst of Ecology)!

Dr. Toby Kiers (Toby Kiers) and Dr. Adriana Corrales (Adriana Corrales) visited colleagues at CIAT in Colombia during COP16 and were given a tour of CIAT’s impressive collection of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi species. #COP16 #COP16Colombia #CIAT #AMF #fungi

We have a vacancy for a PhD position with our recently started PMI PI Arsheed Sheikh at Utrecht University. Please apply via: uu.nl/en/organisatio…

Dr. Yang Song of Utrecht University recently published an article explaining how the seed tuber #microbiome predicts #potato vigor. Julian visited Utrecht on Wednesday to #interview her about the paper. News article and #video coming up! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

The first SynCom expirment is underway Wageningen U&R Lab of #Entomology! PhD-students Marcela Aragon Gomez and Zulema Carracedo are studying #bacterial strains which are more abundant in the #cabbage rhizosphere during #aphid infestation, #drought stress, or both.

2nd #fieldwork campaign of DarĂo X. RamĂrez in North #Ecuador to find out how native #soils acquire resistance to #potato blight (caused by Phytophthora infestans). #Experiment ongoing, results expected early next year! NL Inst of Ecology Utrecht University Faculty of Science, Utrecht University

Dr. Rahul Jain (Rahul Jain) from UvA Amsterdam shows how he studies the role of #microbes when #plants experience #stress, in this case from #nitrogen. Watch the video here: youtu.be/brnIRHimglA SILS UvA Faculty of Science

Kris de Kreek, MiCRop-associated #PhD at Wageningen U&R, talks about his #research in which he studies the role of the #microbiome in #plant-#insect interactions. Watch the video here (Dutch audio, English subs available): youtu.be/qv46CwBLWxY

Join the growing UvA Faculty of Science SILS Plant Hormone Biology team working on the mechanisms driving the plant-microbiome interaction and become part of the MiCRop - Microbial Imprinting for Crop Resilience consortium aimed at harnessing the microbiome for a sustainable agriculture

Justin Stewart (Justin Stewart) from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (inactief) talks about mycorrhizal fungi: what they are, why they're important and much more.
