Amidst despair, our teams from PRCS are a beacon of hope. With the support of World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN, they successfully evacuated 31 premature babies from the Al-Shifa Hospital. I cannot stress this enough: hospitals, civilians must be protected. Humanity must come first.

Last week I stepped down as CEO British Red Cross 🧡. It was an emotional farewell. I will be quiet for a little while, but the themes I want to pursue are set out in the blog below. What kind of leadership do we need to bring about the big changes we need to improve outcomes?

Humanitarians need new approaches to deal with the long emergency of accelerating climate risks. China is and will be a key actor. Thank you, Hugo Slim, for sharing thoughts at the 3rd Soochow International Forum last week. Olga Dzhumaeva Jagan Chapagain

Charities are best placed to understand the needs and challenges of the people they serve. Our on-the-ground insight and experience is a vital contribution, so it's great to hear @ThangamMP acknowledge that governments must listen to civil society. #PBEevents The Labour Party

Impressive mastery and curiosity about issues from disability to teen violence to emergency response from Keir Starmer in the context of a call for a "society of service" #pbeevents

Good article from Sarah Elliott (Vibert). Agree we are headed in the right direction-but we must make it easier for government to work with us on the big issues of the day. New platforms for partnerships on climate, homelessness, food security, migration etc. More impact, more influence

....this makes me want to cry. Very good, well argued, passionate interview this morning on BBC Radio 4 Today at 7.50 with Filippo Grandi UNHCR United Kingdom We have to tackle these challenges together strategically, not tactically with token initiatives like Rwanda and walls

Forced labour is a human rights outrage affecting 28m people around the world. It also involves economic exploitation at an industrial scale - $10,000 per victim. And it is an economic disaster at national level in foegone taxes. It is in all our interests to act. Theresa May
