Two years ago I started brainstorming with Matt Lesser about the need for a state-level voting rights act in CT. Today, the Connecticut General Assembly passed the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act of CT. This legislation will be the most comprehensive state-level VRA in country.

That’s why I’ve been working with incredible people like Michael Pernick at Legal Defense Fund, Aseem Mulji & Valencia Richardson at Campaign Legal Center, and @yurijrudensky at Brennan Center to push for State Voting Rights Acts. States can give voting power to people of color even if SCOTUS won’t.
