A filly named Tea Rose just contested the Pimlico opener. She had a brilliant Australian namesake in the mid-1940s, who became the first filly to win the AJC Derby (now the Australian Derby) since 1898. The G2 Tea Rose Stakes is run in her honor every September in Sydney.
