Wonderful first day of the Unlikely Refuge? workshop on humanitarian mobilization in Eastern and Central Europe. Distance notwithstanding, it felt as we were debating in the same (physical) room!

Big thanks from me all participants of the workshop: for staying and staying active on Zoom over three days, and even more, for leveraging the history of Central and Eastern Europe to rethink the meanings of humanitarianism as such!

Speaking to Matthew Frank about minority protection and mass population transfer was a pleasure, the depressive topic notwithstanding! Listen to the podcast here: soundcloud.com/user-267970745…

On October 26, I will present my research on revocations of citizenship in Poland and Czechoslovakia (1938-39) in our Jewish history seminar. I will discuss the evaluation of loyalty and language of appeals against denationalization. Eager to get your feedback!
