New: Israel says Iran was fast approaching a point of no return in its quest to obtain nuclear weapons & strikes were necessary to preempt that outcome. But US intel agencies had reached a different conclusion, sources tell Katie Bo Lillis & me. cnn.com/2025/06/17/pol…

Iran: Based on continued analysis of high resolution satellite imagery collected after Friday’s attacks, the IAEA has identified additional elements that indicate direct impacts on the underground enrichment halls at Natanz. No change to report at Esfahan and Fordow.

“US intelligence assessments had reached a different conclusion – not only was Iran not actively pursuing a nuclear weapon, it was also up to three years away from being able to produce and deliver one to a target of its choosing.” cnn.com/2025/06/17/pol…

The claim that Iran had 60 days to make a deal is disingenuous since the United States was hardly ready, and did not conduct, an intensive, detailed negotiation. (1/n)

The The New York Times reports that the Trump administration was "unaware of any new intelligence" showing that Iran was rushing to a bomb—which was Israel's justification for starting the war when it did. But Trump gave up on trying to restrain Netanyahu

If Trump is serious about bombing Iran, he’d be wise to declassify intelligence showing that the threat of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon is imminent. The American people are not just going to take him at his word. Been there; done that (in 2003).

Netanyahu lobbied relentlessly against the JCPOA, even going behind Obama’s back to address Congress and undermine it. He pressured Trump to quit the deal in 2018 despite Iran’s compliance. It was never about verifiable limits on Iran’s nuclear program for Netanyahu.
