Congratulations to Dr. Keith Lyons for our latest paper on spider venom🕷️published in #toxicon showing that the method used to extract venom influences venom composition and potency, with obvious impact on profile analysis and LD50 / ED50 values☣️

It's Science week in Galway and I am on the road again with my creepy-crawly friends! Another way to bridge the gap between #academia and the local communities, meet bright young minds, and promote our #zoology course SNS@UniversityofGalway Ollscoil na Gaillimhe | University of Galway Galway Science & Technology Festival

And that's another Galway Science & Technology Festival festival done! Last visit of the year at St. Joseph's Patrician College. 800+ pupils learnt about venom, stings, bites, toxins, camouflage and constrictor snakes. Thank you all for welcoming me! I wonder... how many will join us to study zoology SNS@UniversityofGalway?

All set for my segment with #creepycrawlies on Ireland AM 😊 Time to spread some love for all things bug and venom related! SNS@UniversityofGalway Ollscoil na Gaillimhe | University of Galway

15min of yours truly speaking about bugs. Couple of approximations in the heat of the moment scale bugs, not shield bugs!) but hopefully it remained informative nonetheless. Ollscoil na Gaillimhe | University of Galway SNS@UniversityofGalway virginmediatelevision.ie/player/show/80…

Feeding one of our Abronia lytheochila at the office. He decided to climb up my arm while i was misting the enclosure. Happy lizard, and happy me! SNS@UniversityofGalway Janic Schulte

Thanks to The Blindboy Podcast, 2 scientists on the stage of the Town Hall Theatre shared their weird jungle stories and current venom research with 400 people of Galway + 100s of 1000s further away . That's the academia I love and we need more of it Ollscoil na Gaillimhe | University of Galway We are now Research Ireland @scienceirel

It's available! Dr JP Dunbar and yours truly chatting about all things venomous 🐍🕷️🦂. Thanks to The Blindboy Podcast for this opportunity to share our stories and research interests. Congratulations to Dr. Keith Lyons for submitting his thesis! Fantastic work under the primary supervision of Kevin Healy - I acted as co-supervisor. Keith has collaborated with the Venom Lab since its inception. Delighted to have seen you grow from undergrad student to Dr Lyons!

🥳And another graduation for the Venom Lab🥳Brandon Collier just submitted the final version of his thesis, and I couldn't be more proud! Congratulations Brandon, and what an amazing journey from the Midwest to the West coast of Ireland!! SNS@UniversityofGalway

Our new study in collab with university Ibn Zohr of Agadir on scorpion distribution and habitat preference in the Souss Massa Valley of Morocco is out! And another successful visit by the Bug Dr 🥳Thank you Everyone at Coláiste Éinde for welcoming me again - I am delighted to have met so many budding zoologists! SNS@UniversityofGalway

Last contribution of the Galway Venom Lab this year... A tasty article that will speak to all herpetologists and field ecologists out there: "Modelling the ecological niches of reptiles in highly biodiverse protected areas" tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10… SNS@UniversityofGalway

Our latest contribution to the world of arachnology and venom studies, freshly published in Biology Letters. Congratulations to Dr. Keith Lyons for leading this exciting study!
