#OnThisDay June 9 1894: JJ Hill's "SS North West", one of the finest passenger steamships ever to sail the Great Lakes, arrives in Duluth on her maiden voyage. After conversion to a freighter in 1922, during WWII she was headed to the UK when torpedoed by a U-boat and sunk.
