4/ A better approach would be to send an official application through the proper channels. Of course this alone also won’t give you much chance with so many applications, so how do you stand out in a crowd?

5/ The answer is simple. Be helpful. Being genuinely helpful will get you noticed much quicker and it’s much more effective than anything else you can do. I’m not talking about pretend help, or what looks like help but actually causes more problems.

6/ I’m talking about finding a guild you like (or several) and joining their community at the bottom level, read the FAQ because a member who dosnt waste time asking questions that have already been asked is helpful.

7/ Also less than 10% of people read the FAQs so by doing this you just overtook the majority of your competition. Then you need to get the attention of the person who is above you in the community. For most this will be a moderator.

8/ Start by letting them know you have already read the FAQs (this gets their attention because it’s rare) and ask a sensible question like this. HI Mod, I’m new here, I’ve just read the FAQs and I’m just finding my way around. Is there anything I can do to help you?

9/ This makes you stand out because 1, You gave some effort rather than taking some time 2, You asked how you can help. Mods are there to help you so offering to help makes you stand out and gets the right attention. Don’t be desperate and don’t be sly. Actually want to help

10/ continue to do this as it builds trust as as a scholarship manager we want two things. Trust and effort. If you can display those qualities whilst making things easier / better for those around you. You will stand out 100% of the time and that is without a moment wasted

11/ The people I help the most are the ones that went out of their way to help me without me even asking. They found a problem I had and they gave me a solution without taking any of my attention or time. THAT stands out !!

12/ If someone like that genuinely shows up in my community, I will go out of my way to find a team, regardless if I have one ready because that quality is what we all want. I did that exact thing yesterday and wanted to share to help others who want to really make a difference.
