Golf's longest day! I love that the US Open still does a 36 hole final qualifier. My longest day is 51 holes in a single day, all in a cart. It was casual golf and I think I was maybe focused for about 27 of those holes. I can't imagine having to stay locked in for 36 holes.

So last night Jack Nicklaus caused quit a stir with his comments about Scottie's main competition yesterday. With that, here are some of Jack's thoughts on the top 18 in the Ryder Cup standings (i.e. the guys most likely to make the team).

Played 9 holes tonight. Literally didn't get a driver more than 5 feet off the ground for the first 5 holes. On 6 I sniped it way left. 7 is a par 3. On 8 I went back to my old, funky setup, and hit a high fade. More of the same on 9. So I went to the range and hit 10 balls

Golf has two traditions unlike any other, the Masters and this...complaining about how hard the US open is gonna be in the lead-up to the US Open. A few guys will figure it out, the winning score will be around even, and everything will be fine. Everyone just relax!

I genuinely want people's thoughts on the handicap system. As I've shared on here, I have been struggling. I have been soft capped most of the year. My current index is 6.2. Here's the kicker, my lowest differential in my last 20 is 6.4. If I weren't soft-capped I'd be a 7.0

Is this the right answer? Do we just scrap the handicap system? Want to play a match against friends? Get better or negotiate on the 1st tee. Want to play in a tournament? Go play and see how you flight out!

Holes that aren't holes. This is the 9th at Elmwood taken from 4 fairway. This would be a brutal par 4. But it would be fun to hit a hybrid/longer iron into that green. Who likes to play cross country golf and make up the holes as you go?

This is fact. This rollback isn't going to hurt the bombers. It's going to hurt the guys who manage to compete with upper 160s/low 170s ball speeds. The misguided attempt by the USGA and R&A to reign in a "problem" they created is going to do nothing to stop top end distance.

Interesting that Rory is now painting himself as the victim here. We all know he would have done interviews if he played well, despite the driver leak. Rory's driver issue gave him an excuse to not talk to the media re: his bad play, plain and simple.
