The educational costs of adolescent childbearing, as well as heterogeneity in those costs, grew the most for women born 1980-84 with a low propensity for having a teen birth.

Our findings suggest that midcentury social changes fundamentally altered the opportunity costs of adolescent motherhood.

Fantastic thread from Joseph D. Wolfe about our new AJS paper on how associations between teen births and educational attainment have changed across NLS cohorts, including thinking about heterogeneity in those changes. Loved working with him and Shawn Bauldry on this project!

Had a great #ASA2024, including a hike up Mount Royal on my last day! Lots of wonderful reunions and was able to share some ongoing work on adult child-mother relationship dynamics and hear work from so many others (including 2 excellent life course sessions I got to organize).
