Getting ready to travel to #PAA2024! I have a paper tomorrow with Courtney Williams (LSU)- "Stressful Childbearing Experiences and Midlife Mental Health by Race/Ethnicity" and a poster Friday with Cliff Ross & JD Wolfe on unintended childbearing and midlife health. Come say hi!

The educational costs of adolescent childbearing, as well as heterogeneity in those costs, grew the most for women born 1980-84 with a low propensity for having a teen birth.

Fantastic thread from Joseph D. Wolfe about our new AJS paper on how associations between teen births and educational attainment have changed across NLS cohorts, including thinking about heterogeneity in those changes. Loved working with him and Shawn Bauldry on this project!

So grateful to be in a department with Verna as chair and love that UAB is recognizing her with this University Professorship!

New pub in @_socialcurrents! Extended union membership is beneficial for the midlife health of working mothers, but there is no association for women without children. I first drafted this paper in August 2021, so it's great to finally be able to share! doi.org/10.1177/232949…

Huge congrats to Cliff! He made a very complicated dissertation defense look easy (although, of course, I can say that because defense day is a lot less stressful on the "non-student" side of things).

Had a great #ASA2024, including a hike up Mount Royal on my last day! Lots of wonderful reunions and was able to share some ongoing work on adult child-mother relationship dynamics and hear work from so many others (including 2 excellent life course sessions I got to organize).
