A beautiful Bedstraw Hawk-moth in the MV trap here at Hillwell, Shetland this week. With south easterly winds heading our way, hopefully a few more migrants over the next few evenings.

Moth of the night in St Mellion was Hellula undalis (Old World Webworm), which was found resting on top of the rain shield of the actinic trap at 22:45. I was sure I caught a glimpse of a Striped Hawk-moth just after, however it was nowhere to be seen this am & won't be recorded.

This is an historic photo. Congratulations to William Brame (who took the photo) for realising this was a different white butterfly. Now confirmed by Chris van Swaay as a Southern Small White - the first seen in England. As it is a female let's hope it has been laying eggs.
