If you go to cities around the world that are thriving and that are more affordable, they're building housing. They're building up. They're building dense. They're embracing growth, change, and diversity. San Francisco can do that too. But not like this. This definitely ain't

I’ll add to the chorus: It is extremely disappointing to see the SF Board of Supervisors fail their city by getting in the way of new housing. Really hope this terrible vote is an exception, & that the BOS doesn’t continue to move the City backwards on its housing goals.

Urbanist twitter! I am currently looking for a summer job. I’m a first year planning graduate student Harvard GSD interested in housing and making the world easier. My background is in real estate and renewable finance. Any leads would be much obliged. 🙏

Me & Salim in San Francisco Chronicle: SF promised state its rezoning plan would add 36k homes & they'd prove that with data. They didn't. We used their tools & found it only adds 8k.😳 Plan must be 4x bigger! Make your own map at rezonesf.org. sfchronicle.com/opinion/openfo…

BIG shoutout to Senator Scott Wiener and SPUR for cutting years and millions of dollars of cost from delivering fast bus projects. Proud to have been part of this permitting reform, and excited to be working on permitting reform for clean energy equipment installs full time!

But what’s most important is that San Francisco can, and should, adopt a rezoning plan that results in far more housing than the current draft. This is the only way to meet our CA state requirements, and this is what we committed to do when we passed the Housing Element.

Why do San Francisco's Painted Ladies have property taxes ranging from $1,000 to $44,000? My latest story on how the iconic houses explain Prop 13, California's most important (and complicated) housing law San Francisco Chronicle sfchronicle.com/projects/2024/…

I’m disappointed the Bay Area housing bond was pulled. We’ll continue working toward a 2026 transit funding measure. Absent action, 2026 is when major transit systems will start cutting service. I look forward to also supporting a future housing bond. We’re in this together.
