A higher CTL is not a guarantee of an improved performance. The dose-response relationship between training load (e.g. CTL) and performance is not linear. Pay attention to how your training volume and intensity is distributed and don’t simply, ā€˜chase the blue line’

A quick thread on athlete monitoring in cycling: High quality & meaningful monitoring requires a combination of internal and external load metrics. Why a combination?…

Elias Lehtonen (@eliaslehtonen) 's Twitter Profile Photo

A very good thread! My tip is to pick a few valid methods for internal&external load and apply those consistently. Consistency&simplicity trumps the newest&fanciest occasionally used metrics. For consistency it is crucial that athletes&coaches buy in to the metrics used.

This tweet is exactly what is wrong with Genetic testing. Sorry Alan, but knowing one genotype is completely meaningless. Unfortunately we have only scraped the surface of starting to understand the complexities in action here

One of the most important performance concepts: Our brain is predictive. Poor performance is often the result of getting stuck in a bad predictive rut. Stress, pressure --> Fear, catastrophizing --> Avoid & protect coping/actions. To get out you have to...

The biggest mistake coaches make is by trying to justify their existence. The majority of training session should be boring, ā€œeasyā€ and not include structure.
