One of the most fun days of squash I can remember. Club was buzzing, games were all played hard but fun, folks seemed to love it. Will definitely run another.

Schedule chaos tonight - accident on the main road up from south Essex. Appreciate the vast majority in the draw who took it in their stride, dealt with the delays and played their matches in the proper spirit.

Tournament done. Think after withdrawals it was 114 matches, feels like it should be more. Absolutely defeated. Hopefully the Lexden Rackets Club team get some energy and bounce back.

This is great news for us and will bring much needed focus on the club’s operational needs. Hugely positive. Excited for the future.

Ally Pally theatre Best squash venue I’ve ever seen live at least

All the world champs semi finals - but especially Asal vs Coll - showed squash at its best. Rowdy crowd, unreal level of squash, drama to the wire. As far as sporting theatre goes, that was truly brilliant.

That was my housemate (thankfully doesn’t follow me on this) racially abused twice from folks in cars this eve on his way back from football. No riots in Colchester but clearly it’s not ok to be outdoors. Deeply saddened. Fucking state of us as a nation.

Still struggle to get my head around these squash “club” championships. Very few clubs at the euros actually represented by their members. Same with the English champs. Expensive plaything for club management using members money.
