Unfortunately, #avianinfluenza has been found in wandering albatross on South Georgia. We're working closely with Government SGSSI. HPAI H5N1 has so far been confirmed in elephant and fur seals, brown skuas, kelp gulls and Antarctic terns. Here's the latest ⬇️ bas.ac.uk/media-post/avi…

Climate risk assessment: Australian & #Antarctic marine predators like seabirds, seals and penguins are especially vulnerable to environmental changes, as they rely on land-based breeding sites and the ocean to find food. ▶️ utas.edu.au/about/news-and… 📸 Shy albatross, Milan Sojitra

New research provides insight into the impacts of climate change on terrestrially breeding marine predators in #Australia and #Antarctica. The study, led by University of Tasmania, is published in the journal Global Change Biology. doi.org/10.1111/gcb.17…

Presenting at #AMSANZMSS2024 on my #PhD research on climate change risk assessment for terrestrially-breeding marine predators, published in Global Change Biology! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

We are excited to welcome Milan Sojitra as the first guest of our Researcher in Focus series! He will talk about how weather conditions affect the population dynamics of marine predators.
