Our new study finds that during the early pandemic, approximately 60 percent of US parents received informal support with childcare, mostly from older children and extended family members.

My new paper on cohabitation in China is out! I examine the gendered ways in which urban young adults assess cohabitation’s link to marriage & meanings for selfhood. It’s my small piece into the puzzle of China’s population dynamics. Happy it found a home! link.springer.com/article/10.100…

How did US parents use informal childcare during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, and how was its use associated with their work hours? We examined these questions in this new work with Emma Zang and Jess Calarco, just online in JFI! journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/01…

As an oldest daughter, the findings from my newest paper really hit home. My coauthors Emma Zang and Milly Yang and I found that 49% of US families with kids relied on older siblings to care for younger ones while schools/childcare centers were closed journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/01…

As Milly Yang Emma Zang and I find, families with young kids relied heavily on older siblings as caregivers during closures. And prior research has shown that sibling care and household chores overwhelmingly fall to (especially eldest) daughters. 2/ journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/01…
