I’ve spent today making a ‘key extract’ booklet for ‘A Christmas Carol’, designed for those students who struggle to read the text more than once. Sharing in case it’s useful to others. PDF & editable Word versions included. Help yourselves! Team English dropbox.com/sh/mi8qpy583dr…

My creative writing booklet is here if anyone wants a look drive.google.com/drive/folders/… - it covers the basics like tense, run on sentences, subject/verb agreement etc. before teaching pupils a variety of sentence types, methods of planning, with two examples at the end - enjoy!

🌟Macbeth vocabulary resource🌟 I put together some activities to reinforce the key words I use again and again when teaching Macbeth. This is not by any means a conclusive list, but these are words that I return to a lot!

Good morning! I'm sure everybody has a version of an A Christmas Carol revision booklet at this point but I wanted something quite specific, so made my own 41 page extravaganza! I know the others have been helpful to some people so it is here if you need drive.google.com/file/d/15vc3Se…

Finished this off so I could have a peaceful half term - help yourself! 41 pages of Macbeth revision guide, very much the same idea as the last two I've made. All my revision guides are in this folder here - hope it helps your Y11s! drive.google.com/drive/folders/…

Whilst I usually prefer live modelling obviously, I find it's hardest to do with full pieces of creative writing. This is a booklet of 10 different examples of Paper 1 Q5 model answers in response to different images - might save you a bit of time! drive.google.com/file/d/1DwejR5…

So excited to embed Tom Sherrington ‘s excellent workshop into Y10’s lessons soon. The pupils will use mini-whiteboards to practise and refine specific sentence structures based on pre-constructed knowledge around character.

Let's read Macbeth. Act 1 Sc 1 l.1: FIRST WITCH When shall we three meet again? In thunder, lightning, or in rain? The first lines of the play focus us immediately on the motif of TIME. The witches begin by looking to the future: immediately predicting and prophesying. 1/

Trialling a literal talking framework... I asked students to write their suggestions for each gap on their mini whiteboard one at a time to check understanding and correct/upgrade. It was a great strategy: unpicked a few gaps! Reflection: use boxes instead of silly, tiny lines.🤦‍♀️
